Every morning, I stare at the Illinois State Police squad car in the driveway. It could be any squad car—the car NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu sat in at the time of their execution; the car that burst into flames when Illinois State Trooper James Sauter was rear-ended by a semi; the car that was torched and flipped on its side by Ferguson protestors.
